School Assembly
We shared our inquiry for the year with the school at Assembly on Friday.
Child Poverty Speech….
N: Introduce: This year the Te Roopu Kaiarahi has decided to do something around Child Poverty.
Child Poverty is lack of food, shelter, warmth, water, education, health & opportunities for a good life. Even though in New Zealand we do experience some poverty, it is nothing compared to other countries in the world. Watch this please...
Clips..Malawi
C: On the 21st of May Michelle Griffiths came to our Te Roopu Kaiarahi meeting and shared with us about the 40 hour famine. Michelle Griffiths is from the World Vision Group. She talked a lot about the environment in Malawi, Africa. Malawi is a very poor country due to drought. There is not enough food for people to eat. Even though we didn’t do the 40 hour Famine we are still going to fundraise money for Malawi. You will hear more from us about what we are hoping to do to raise money.
C: Te Roopu Kaiarahi choose “Child Poverty” as our over all year project because its very important to us that kids have the same type of lives as us kiwi kids.
N: so thats why we choose child poverty over the other suggestions!!!!!

Child Poverty
We have decided this year as a student leadership group to do an inquiry about 'Child Poverty'.
Today we had a visitor come and speak to us about the 40 Hour Famine and child poverty in Malawi. We found out Malawi is one of the poorest countries in the world.
Poverty is a lack of some of these things...
Food
Shelter
Warmth
Clothing
Clean Water
Education
Health
Opportunities for a good life
We want to help and we will be talking about ideas we could do to raise money to support World Vision who help children living in Poverty.
